Hey all, I'm in Hong Kong right now but I'm originally from France. Having a tough time with major exchanges like Binance and OKEx since they don’t allow perpetual futures trading from HK. I'm into software engineering and really wanna test some strategies on perpetuals. Thinking about options like setting up a company somewhere else or maybe getting a crypto-friendly citizenship. Anyone got tips or experiences with this? Would love some advice.

Honestly, your citizenship is key here. If you have access, it's probably due to a French-licensed exchange. When you KYC, your French passport is what they'll look at. Intermediaries might be the way to go, like a company based in a place where it's legal. A Hong Kong company could be the easiest solution.

I've heard from some Canadians that they use a Palau ID to trade futures or stuff on restricted exchanges lol. Not sure if it's legit or if it still works, though. It's like an offshore residency, right? I haven't tried it myself, but maybe check out r/BitcoinCA for more info. Keep us posted on what you find out lol 🍻

If you're just there temporarily, you could use your French passport to verify and access a service via a VPN. Have you looked into Bitfinex or Kraken? I skimmed their TOS, and it seems they allow HK residents to trade derivatives. Definitely check those out, but read the TOS carefully.

Actually, it's not just about your citizenship. I'm French too, living in HK, and I deal with tax residency here. It really boils down to where you’re tax resident. Heard Palau citizenship doesn’t work now, but I think France and HK both block derivative trading. Would a HK company work on Binance though?

For me, nationality matters when KYC'ing. They want your passport, not some residency card unless you have PR and pay taxes there. Yeah, Palau was exploited by a lot of people for fraud. Binance moved out of HK ages ago, so guess you might be outta luck.
