Need Help Designing a Cooling System for My KD5 Miners

Thinking about hiring someone to build a cooling system for my 2 KD5 miners. Anyone here ever design something like a fridge or freezer that actually works and takes care of condensation?

What coin does KD5 mine? If it's BTC, that’s solid. What’s the wattage?

Yeah, it pulls around 2250 watts. So, with two KD5s, you're looking at about 4500 watts. That's roughly 21000 BTUs of heat. To handle that, you’ll need around 1100 CFM for airflow.

Condensation isn’t the main issue. These chips actually need to run hotter. They’ve got a pre-heat cycle for a reason. If they’re too cold, they won’t perform well, sometimes won't even start up.

I was thinking about liquid cooling. Ever heard of using mineral oil for cooling electronics? It might be messy, but it could work. Just put your miner in an aquarium with mineral oil.

Mineral oil isn’t great long-term. It can wreck PVC wiring and other plastics. There are better options out there like silicon-based oils. They don’t damage components.

Fridge-style cooling sounds like a bad idea. Air cooling or immersion cooling is the way to go.

You’re right about costs. A typical 24,000 BTU AC unit could do the trick but it’s pricey. You might want to look at wall-mounted systems instead.

Liquid cooling could be effective. Not immersion, but using heat sinks attached to aluminum plates with distilled water circulating. This is how military tech stays cool and dry.
