Need assistance with my wallet

Hey everyone... I really need some help. Years ago I bought some Bitcoin and made a wallet, but I can't find it. I only got the wallet number from back then, probably 2020 or 2021.

What do you mean by wallet number? Can you share more details? Was it a specific wallet app, or a multi-currency wallet? Do you have a seed phrase written down somewhere?

Yeah, not sure what wallet number means. Is it the public key or just an address? What app did you use to set this up? Maybe it was Electrum? Or did you lose your wallet file?

Different wallets have different places for their files. If you made it with Bitcoin Core or Electrum, they have specific directories.

2020 isn’t that far back. Plenty of wallets were solid back then. Just make sure you didn’t mess up the backup process. How long is this wallet number you got?

There’s no such thing as a wallet number in Bitcoin. You should have a Bitcoin address, a private key, and maybe a seed phrase. Let's clarify what info you can share.

I think you mean the wallet address, not a number. @OP, if you installed a wallet app on your computer, there might be a file you can use to recover it!

Only way to help is if OP tells us what wallet he’s using. If it’s just a passphrase wallet, that might explain a lot.

What about the backup? Did you get a seed phrase with 12, 15 or more words? That’s what you need to restore access.

I find it hard to believe you just have that wallet address with no other info. Did you at least keep a private key or is it just on a website?

You can check any blockchain explorer for info about that address. See if there’s any balance or transactions.

You won't find the purchase info unless the wallet app you used has that feature. Any chance you can dig through your old email for clues?

Not trying to be negative, but this seems like a classic scam setup. If you just got a public address, it could be worthless.

If you need transaction dates, check something like Block Explorer. It’ll show all activity on your wallet.

Old wallet sites like Exodus had exchange features back in 2021. If you remember the software, that could help.

Sounds like there’s a chance this is a watch-only wallet. A lot of folks confuse public addresses with private keys, making them easy targets.
