It's wild how self-hosted nodes are supposedly getting more blocks than public ones. Like, what’s the deal here? Shouldn't we be learning something from this?

Nah, that's not true... Most blocks come from a few massive pools. Sure, small private nodes hit one occasionally, but it's super rare.

True that, new pools often grab those early blocks, I’d say they get less than half.

That’s a bit off, man. Even if you’ve got your own pool, luck plays a major role. The only real perk is saving on transaction fees by not sharing a cut with a pool. But hitting blocks? Still not guaranteed.

Stats show, as of 2025, the top 5 mining pools mine 88% of blocks. It's pretty much the big players Foundry, AntPool, ViaBTC, F2Pool, and MARA. Solo mining is a drop in the bucket.

Also worth mentioning, solo pools just connect solo miners to a pool like ckpool. It’s not really about solo miners running their own nodes.

Exactly! A solo pool pools all miners' power and rewards the one who finds the block. If everyone was solo mining with low power, blocks would be super rare. Plus, server costs make solo mining a pain.
