The meme coin scene is in chaos. Over 3 million tokens have flopped in the last year alone. Half of those just in the first quarter of 2025. Many projects were all about quick pumps with zero real value, and now investors are pulling their funds out.
Meme Coins: The Downfall and Still Hanging Around

If they had no real value, why were they pumped in the first place? Seems like a lot of copy-paste ideas without actual utility. Just more smoke and mirrors.
Most memes seriously lack utility. Even with hype, they stay memes. Developers get lazy after making a quick buck, and then it’s game over no more updates or innovation.
Exactly! Meme coins promise price growth but do nothing else. Look at past hype like Shiba and Pepe; investors jump from one to another, knowing there’s no long-term use.

It’s been obvious for a while, honestly. Meme coins are just speculative bets. Some are legit, but most are scams. Best to stick with established projects and only gamble with extra cash.

They should have faded out ages ago, but gullible investors keep biting. Most memes are just narrative-driven fluff, no real longevity. I’m done with them.
Not sure they'll vanish though. Other altcoins are just as useless. If you don't know what you're doing, you can lose everything fast in crypto.
Meme coins had value at one point, though. I made a killing on that $Trump coin. If everything else is crashing, why blame meme coins for failing?
The so-called failure is just the market doing its thing. Those 2024-2025 meme coins were just scratch tickets, not meant to be the next Doge.
Right? They keep creating thousands of meme coins. There’s like 20k of them right now. People are still hoping to strike gold with minimal investment.

I wouldn’t call it a failure meme coins are just for fun. They never had real value to begin with. Those investing in them expecting to get rich are just chasing dreams.

True, but the collapse has been wild. A lot of promising tokens tanked lately, mostly due to scams and new regulations. Investors are starting to turn to coins with actual use cases.
Hype can only take you so far. The market wants more than quick pumps now. Trust has been destroyed by too many scams.

Yeah, some of the surviving ones are trying to add real features. But isn’t that just admitting they were never useful to begin with?
Most of them simply lack any real use case. They’re a gamble at best. Sure, they can skyrocket but can crash just as fast.

Newbies keep coming for meme coins, hoping for profits. They don’t get that these things are short-lived. It’s risky business.
I bought into meme coins a while back. Knew they were worthless but thought maybe I could ride the wave. Ended up losing money and got out.
It’s like a roulette game. You might hit big, but most of the time you lose before you even start.
Exactly, these coins were all about manipulation from day one. Now investors are finally getting wise to the risks.
Fair point, but many still see potential. As long as the hype exists, there’ll be investors willing to risk it.
