Just got my S17+ and man, the fan noise is unbearable. When I power it up and log in, it's chill for the first minute, but then the fans go wild. Is there a way to tone it down or even stop them entirely when I’m not hashing?

Stopping the fans completely isn’t a good idea. It’ll cause overheating and could wreck your miner over time. Always keep it under 70°C. If you can set fan speed to around 80 or 90 percent, that should help with the noise. If you don't see that option in your settings, you might have to do it manually, check this out for details.

I think the guy just wants to reduce noise while the miner is off, right? If it's not hashing, shouldn't be a big deal for lifespan, imo. I mean, the chips aren't doing anything when they’re not calculating... but yeah, keeping an eye on temps is key.
