Issues with Samourai Wallet: Recovery Help Needed

Hey everyone, So I tried to get 200EUR in BTC to my wallet yesterday. I clicked on the receive button and shared the address, but the BTC never showed up. I can see my last transaction of 5EUR, but after a minute, it says I have 0.0000000 available. I checked online and saw the Samourai Wallet site got shut down by the FBI... I’ve tried recovering my wallet with different passphrases (coinimi, exodus, sparrow), but no luck. 😩

It’s possible the transaction just isn’t confirmed yet. Have you checked for a transaction ID? With Samourai, you held the seed words, so the events don’t really affect you directly. If it hasn’t confirmed, it doesn’t matter which wallet you’re trying to recover your funds on since the BTC isn’t actually there yet.

I think a lot of you might be missing that Samourai first asks for a passphrase. Many don't realize what that is. After the passphrase, you create your wallet PIN or password. Once you’re in, you can find your seed phrase in settings. I tried to skip the passphrase too and ran into issues.

To restore your Samourai wallet, you need the 12 recovery words and the additional mnemonic passphrase. Samourai requires that extra passphrase; otherwise, you’re locked out. Even a small mistake in the passphrase can lead you to an empty wallet. You’ll also need the derivation paths used by Samourai.

Did you get it recovered? If it worked, I’d recommend moving your BTC to a new wallet like Electrum. Samourai’s not a good option anymore since it’s been seized. If you haven’t recovered it yet, check the link Cricktor shared; it has the right steps for recovery. It might also help to extract the private key using your seed phrase and passphrase.

I think the user probably forgot to use the passphrase when attempting to recover. Seems like they got it now with the right seed phrase and passphrase. The 'not' was definitely a typo, lol. Anyone with both will have a smoother recovery on wallets that support BIP39.

Yeah, I managed to recover my wallet too with the correct BIP39 seed phrase and passphrase. Thanks to everyone for the advice. I’m moving all my BTC now.

Need some help here, how do I restore my funds from Samourai on my phone? I’ve got all 12 words and the phrase key, but it shows zero balance. How do I find my private address for the BTC? Tried different index options with the calculator, but no success with Exodus.

If I remember right, include the Samourai wallet password as a BIP-39 password when restoring with the recovery phrase.

That’s correct, you’ll need both your recovery words and the wallet password as an additional passphrase. What details do you have to recover your wallet? Just saying you have the words and password helps us understand better.

You don’t have to import keys to individual addresses. As long as you have the 12 words and passphrase, restoring will get all your addresses and private keys back.
