Is the 21 Million BTC Supply Limit Still Relevant in 2025?

I've been pondering over Bitcoin's fixed supply of 21 million. Honestly, I still think it holds significant value. With all this money printing by central banks, inflation is through the roof. Bitcoin’s capped supply feels like a powerful statement against that.

Not much changes with altcoins or layer 2 tech. Bitcoin's finite supply is key. As the supply shrinks, demand naturally increases, which means it resists inflation.

Layer 2 solutions and tokenized assets still rely on Bitcoin. They can’t generate new Bitcoin but can use what's already there. So, the 21 million cap still stands.

New account here. Just a heads up AI generated posts aren’t allowed. If you’re using AI, you gotta mention it. The main reason institutions are getting into Bitcoin is because of its supply limit. Privacy and decentralization? They probably don’t care as much as everyday users.

Confusing statements, honestly. How do layer 2s and altcoins impact Bitcoin’s supply cap? Can't quite grasp your point.

Bitcoin is way more than just digital gold now.

The whole point of Bitcoin is that 21 million limit. It’s definitely important.

Yeah, it matters, but it’s not groundbreaking anymore since it’s been talked about so much. Everyone knows it’s limited supply. If Bitcoin had no cap, it wouldn’t hit crazy prices. Scarcity impacts everything.

Those layer 2 tokens don’t change Bitcoin itself, so it’s irrelevant.

Exactly. Just because there are new tokens doesn’t mean they're anywhere close to Bitcoin. With its market dominance, nothing will replace it. Plus, Bitcoin has no paid devs or owners no one controls it.

Limited supply is key. In economics, fixed supply with rising demand means prices go up. Bitcoin’s got that plus decentralization, so it’s tough for anyone to control.

Bitcoin's core is programmed to prevent more supply. Once we hit 21 million mined, that’s the total. Layer 2 solutions like Lightning Network just enhance Bitcoin’s functionality.

Some people doubt the 21 million cap but if you change that, it’s just a hard fork. The cap is vital for Bitcoin's identity.

If ETFs are involved, could we see more than 21 million Bitcoins? People sell portions for mortgages, so why not do that with Bitcoin?

We’ll be in trouble when the last Bitcoin is mined. But that limit is key. It’s why so many love Bitcoin. No need for upgrades, just keep fees low.

Those layer 2 tokens are just overhyped. Bitcoin’s cap is solid as is. People can buy fractions anyway. Centralization is a big issue with those tokens.

The fixed supply is one of Bitcoin’s best features. It attracts investors, avoids inflation. With fixed supply and rising demand, price hikes are just a matter of time.

That’s a silly take. Bitcoin is Bitcoin, altcoins are their own thing. How could they impact Bitcoin's cap? Bitcoin excels as digital gold.

Mining will get tougher as supply increases. With 19.8 million now, we won’t hit max supply until 2140. If more people hold Bitcoin, prices could skyrocket.

The 21 million limit is super popular in the Bitcoin community. I polled some forums about changing it and almost everyone wanted to keep it. Changing that would likely cause a hard fork.
