Is My Router Safe for Crypto Mining and Wallets?

Is it safe to use my own router for crypto mining and wallets? What can go wrong with my internet connection? I have a wired router and a Wi-Fi hotspot, but I keep it on strict NAT. I’ve heard that moderate or open NATs can be less secure... Any tips on what I should watch out for? Is public Wi-Fi really the only risky thing?

Honestly, I’ve never heard of anyone getting hacked just by using their own router. Most routers come with decent firewalls. Way safer than public Wi-Fi for sure, unless someone else is on your network and can access your device. Then it gets risky.

In theory, you should be fine. I can't see how using your own router would lead to security issues. Just make sure nobody can access your stuff through SSH or anything. If you're on a public hotspot, though, yeah, definitely consider using a VPN or Tor. What kind of security key does your hotspot use? Is your router new?

Good point about Man-in-the-Middle attacks being easier on public networks. But if you use a VPN or Tor, your traffic should be encrypted enough to keep it safe from snoopers. I'm not an expert, so if anyone knows more, feel free to chime in. Just saying, with some protection, it could be okay.
