Is It Better to Use an Older Bitcoin Core Version for Syncing?

I’m kinda lost here and need some guidance... Been running Bitcoin Core 29.0 on my HP laptop with SSD, but the sync is painfully slow. Anyone else facing this?

Honestly newer versions are usually better for syncing. You’re downloading a ton of data, and on mobile, 12GB in half an hour isn’t the worst. Just gotta ride it out.

Whoever said downgrading saves data is off. Using an older version means dealing with known bugs. Those updates exist for a reason. How did you set up Bitcoin Core? You might need to tweak your pruning settings.

Pruning doesn’t actually mean less data is downloaded. With 8GB RAM, your SSD will take a hit syncing those recent blocks. It’ll slow down as chainstate grows.

Totally agree. If you want to run Bitcoin Core, you need a reliable internet connection. Wi-Fi is a must. And don’t forget about power supply stability. Power outages can mess everything up.

Blockchain size is almost hitting 700GB now. What’s your goal with Bitcoin Core? If you just need a wallet, try Electrum. You don’t need a full node with so many out there.
