As a web3 fan, especially in DeFi, how often do you guys check platforms like Glassnode or Nansen to see what whales are up to? Do you buy what they buy or just ride the trends?
Not really my style to follow whales. Feels like copy trading, and I prefer to make my own decisions. I want my success to be based on my research, not someone else’s moves.
So how do you conduct your own research then? Don't you ever check what the big players are buying? That info can hint at their confidence in a project, right?
Real research isn't just about tracking whales. It's risky since you can't always know when they'll bail out. I look at charts, volume, market sentiment, news... all that stuff. Following someone else could lead to losses.
Yeah, I don't use those tools either, just rely on charting and fundamentals. If some whale is making moves, sure, that's good to know... but I stick to the basics.
I see influencers saying they track whale wallets to see which coins they're buying. Some believe it’s a good strategy and will profit if they follow the whales... but I might disagree. We each have our own methods.
It can be profitable to follow trends, but timing is everything. I've seen folks try this and succeed, although the risks are high since whales can dump unexpectedly.
Absolutely! Some traders nail it with this approach. Just recently, I saw that one exchange launched a feature to help people identify trending tokens through whale activity. It's interesting.
I’m using the hypurrscan tool to spot whales making big trades. If a whale opens a huge position, it could indicate something big is happening. But just because they’re in doesn’t mean it’s a sure win.
I get that some believe in following trends, but I stick to the well-known coins. Bitcoin is always my go-to. I’ve heard about using on-chain data to find the next buy, but I prefer the bear market when prices are low.
Can’t follow whales if I don’t have a lot of money. By the time I act on their moves, it’s often too late. I prefer to analyze and find my own coins instead of just following.
By the time we spot whale activity, we’re often late to the party. Those guys spread out their buys across wallets to avoid detection before they start unloading.
Tracking others’ trades doesn’t prevent mistakes. Remember that one trader who took a massive hit recently? Just shows that their choices can backfire.
Yeah, you often think you’re on time, but news and trends usually have moved already. Like when the rate cut news broke... the market reacted before most even noticed.
Everyone has their reasons for keeping an eye on whales and big players. But I feel like if you're not investing yourself, it’s kinda pointless. We need to act on our own to get anywhere.
