Introducing the Antminer T9 Bitcoin Miner

Hey everyone, big news as Bitmain drops the Antminer T9! Looks like it’s got the same 16nm chip tech as the S9, promising 11.5TH/s with a bit better efficiency.

So what’s the big difference between T9 and S9? Anyone figured that out yet?

Kinda seems like the later S7 models. Same miner, fewer chips, slightly worse efficiency.

When exactly can we grab one? I’m eager!

I wish I’d held out for this instead of those R4s I just bought. Guess that’s life, huh?

Does this mean the end of the S9? Are we expecting an S10 or S11 soon?

Power use comparison is wild: T9 pulls 1450W for 11.5TH/s while the S9 uses 1078W for 11TH/s. Huge difference.

True, the extra power usage is a concern. At 0.05 kWh, that stacks up to over $160 annually.

Is the firmware still bad? What’s the deal with bmminer?

Would’ve made more sense to call it Q9, right? Like making a cheaper, less fancy BMW and calling it the 9 Series.

Anyone actually planning to buy one? I’m curious.

I think they know the high S9 failure rates are due to power demands. T9 chips are fewer, but power needs are more.

Sounds less efficient than S9... Not sure who will actually buy this. Omg, just looks like a lighter S7 variant.

50% more power consumption than the S9? That’s insane for where tech is at!

I’m giving these a shot. I hope lower efficiency means better reliability.

Update: Reliability from the first batch is great! No failures yet, feels like back with the S7s.

Seems like Bitmain finally admits to S9 issues. Maybe T9 gets closer to the A7 for efficiency?

Since when do they care about that? They just want our cash. It’s like what they did with S5 and S7.
