I found an old email with my ripple wallet info, but I can't log in. Got the address and private key but nothing works. How do I get into my wallet?

Ripple's ditching support for the old client. You can still access it at this link until mid-December. After that, you gotta migrate to the new one.

So, they're just gonna rob old wallets, huh? Welcome to the centralized Ripple.

You can't steal from old wallets without the secret. Plus, the client is open source. People can still use it if they want. Payroutes is keeping the old client alive, so it’s not totally centralized.

Is this the right link to use after mid-December?

Should work if Payroutes keeps it running. Just don’t trust them to not mess with the client. Know your account secret before the deadline, to be safe.

You can't access old wallets without the secret key. Just like bitcoin, you have to import the private key into a current wallet.

I'm trying to get into my old Payroutes wallet. Kept the secret key but it's not working in Ripple desktop wallet. Any ideas?

What do you mean by not working? Like, what happened?

When I enter the secret key, the create new account button is grayed out. Can't click it.

That’s odd. Does your secret key start with an "s" and have 29 characters?

Yeah, it starts with an "s" and is 29 long...

That’s weird. Maybe a typo? Check if you mixed up an I with a 1 or a 0 with an o. No zeros, capital I’s, or lowercase l’s. Legal characters are specific.

So, if no one is hosting the original client, I can’t get in? Are sites like Gatehub the only way to hold Ripple? Also, can Payroutes see my keys?

Thanks, I tried replacing the lowercase l with a 1 but still no luck. Still grayed out.

Is there another wallet I could use? I wanna access my XRP and buy more. I have the key info from Payroutes so I should be fine, right?

You could try jatchili’s minimalist Ripple client or maybe the old Ripple desktop wallet if you can find it.

I’m having a similar issue. My key from Rippex looks fine but still says invalid. Can't open it or create a new wallet.

I’m still struggling too. Your story gave me hope that it’s just their wallet acting weird. No updates on my end. Lost a chunk of Ripple, like 20K.
