With all the changes in bitcoin mining tech, do you think we’ll see miners that are more efficient than ASICs soon? Like, faster, cooler, and cheaper to run?

Totally. There's still room for improvement, especially if companies like Bitmain and Canaan invest in 3nm chips. But will they really spend millions to do it?

I doubt it. They’re more focused on cramming more chips into existing miners to keep power consumption about the same. Farms are fine with those 3-5kw miners.

Yeah I agree. If they could make smaller and better chips, packing more into a miner makes sense. That liquid cooling setup looks promising, too.

What if they went even bigger for industrial setups? If you could have a 1 mega-miner, that could simplify everything and save space. Just one device instead of multiple.

That might cause issues for big operations. Most PDUs use c19 sockets and barely handle 4.1kw. So switching to higher power setups could be a nightmare.

Exactly, you can’t just slap a mega-miner into a data center. The power needs for miners are way higher than regular servers. Finding PDUs to support that is tough.

But think about it. If a data center restructured for miners, they could be super profitable. Just changing the layout could hurt resale value though.

You’re right, but not all data centers have the infrastructure for all that power. Most aren’t up to date for mining needs.

If we stick with Moore's Law, improvements in miners will happen. Higher transistor density should lead to better efficiency over time.

I’m not so sure. Moore's Law seems to be slowing down. I doubt we’ll see a 10kw miner doing 1TH anytime soon.

A twin rack setup with liquid cooling could be the future. One for cooling, one for gear, but still, maintaining performance is key.

What’s the actual benefit of liquid cooling? Doesn’t it just change how heat is removed, not really the efficiency?

True. We need miners that can generate profit for people to feel motivated to jump back in. The altcoin scene feels kinda dead right now.

Of course, making miners profitable means cutting energy costs. But with the sanctions on Chinese chipmakers, I doubt we’ll see much progress.

Looking at the difficulty charts, consumers are still buying miners like crazy. Manufacturers don’t seem too stressed about profits either.
