Why are FPGAs not getting much love in mining? Got any suggestions for specific chips? I'm curious.

This topic fits better in the hardware section. Just check the pinned message at the top, highlights point 3.
But why limit the convo to altcoins? Stacking Xilinx Ultrascale FPGAs could seriously boost your hash rate for Bitcoin. Sure, they’re tricky, but reprogrammable FPGAs have some perks! ASICs might have better margins, but FPGA mining isn't dead yet. Would love to hear why people are so against this.
Man, by today’s standards, FPGAs just can't compete. Even older 28nm ASICs from 2014 outshine them in power and speed. Sure, you can play around with FPGAs, but for serious profit? Nah. Anyone who’s done FPGA mining knows they’re not cutting it anymore, despite being programmable.
You're underestimating ASICs. My USB ASIC blasts FPGAs out of the water higher hash rate, better efficiency, likely cheaper too. FPGAs are decent if ASICs weren’t so advanced, but with Bitcoin? No way, everyone’s going for ASICs unless profits don’t matter.
