Exploring the OMNI-UTXO Protocol for Bitcoin

I’m diving into this cool thing called the OMNI-UTXO protocol. It’s supposed to boost the BTC network. Anyone else following this?

Checked out your repo, and OMNI seems promising. Got some concerns though: 1. How does the synchronizer get incentivized? Submitting proofs seems like it needs gas fees. 2. If you sync BTC and EVM chains at the same time, I submit a BTC transaction and wait 10 minutes... isn’t that super slow? 3. What about security? If everyone runs a sync, couldn’t I double spend?

Great questions! 1. Gas fees are a big deal, and that’s why we’re working on a zk-based Execution Layer for rollups. Right now, we’re focusing on the protocol. 2. About the inefficiency, we’re aware of that. The Execution Layer should help. 3. Double-spend attacks can be spotted using verifiable fraud-proof. If an input is used twice, we’ll catch it.

The OMNI-UTXO protocol really could change the game! Bringing together various blockchains under one global token protocol? Sounds ambitious but key for secure and fluid digital assets.

So UTXOs are for checking transactions and totaling up what’s locked to an address, right? Is the new protocol O-UTXO just a tweak of that or doing something different? And are O-UTXOs kept in the chainstate database?
