Just found out about the whole solo mining pool concept. Why does it matter? Do you really get different outcomes depending on the pool you choose?

Yeah, it’s all about the luck rates. Some pools run way better than others. Like, you could be mining solo but get rekt for months because you chose a bad pool.
Wait a sec, isn’t ‘solo pool’ kinda contradictory? You either mine solo or with a pool, right?

Nah, you can be part of a solo pool. It’s literally just for those who mine alone but gets paid only if they actually hit a block.
But if the payout goes only to the one who finds the block, how’s that a pool? Doesn’t make sense.

Well, you can set up your own Bitcoin node and link your ASIC to it. But most folks go for solo pools like ckpool because they want stable connections.

So... you can have a solo mining pool, but it’s just a fancy term for a public node? Seems confusing to me.

Exactly! It’s more like a service that helps you mine without the hassle of running software on your end. Also, I think it’d be awesome to see luck scores for all timeframes on one page instead of switching tabs.
