Saw a cool post on Medium outlining recent innovations in the Bitcoin protocol. For those who aren’t super technical, it’s a solid summary. Would be great to have a reference thread here on this forum for all those technologies. I started adding some info, let me know if you have better ones.

Also, saw Aaron van Wirdum’s recap on Bitcoin protocol innovations expected this year. Good for those wanting an easy-to-grasp view of what’s coming. Definitely worth a read.

Yeah, that Taproot upgrade talk is getting interesting. Seems like it’s almost ready after going through developer feedback. Gonna be a significant move.

Giacomo Zucco made a great point about privacy features needing widespread adoption. If only a few use them, it backfires. Hoping to see easier interfaces for adoption soon.

Simplicity is slowly getting closer to actual use, though it's only in the Liquid Sidechain for now, not on the main Bitcoin network. I even created a thread for that.

Aaron’s article on how Taproot could be integrated into Bitcoin is a worthwhile read. There’s also a thread focusing on the technicalities of Taproot activation.

Aaron also touched on how Taproot might lead to Payment Pools as a new layer for Bitcoin. Could be an interesting alternative to Layer-2 solutions.

Good news for node runners! A new cryptographic signature verification tech is set to come with the next Bitcoin Core release. Expect about 10% better performance during block verification.

Right? This tech was originally proposed ages ago on here, so it’s nice to finally see it in action.

For those interested in CISA, I’m not sure if there’s a dedicated thread here, but this paper covers the current project state pretty well.
