Experiences with Epic Controller on Antminer S19XP

Power is set to 120th, checking in at 12:06 am. Meter shows 970.37 kwatts. I’ll update with morning readings.

At 1:06 am, it's showing 972.81 kwatts. So that's 2.44 kwatts for 120th, which breaks down to 20.33 watts per th. More updates in the morning.

9:06 am, reading is 993.17 kwatts. So that's 22.80 kwatts in 9 hours. Doing the math here, that’s roughly 21.11 watts a th. Not much savings from the 21 watts per th spec.

But hey, my fan control is 100% instant. Fans at 61%, almost 4900 rpm, and it’s quiet in my garage.

Here’s another pic. This is the 475 freq setting at 13 volts. It tends to show falsely high power in watts.

Trust me, overheating XPs is a bad idea. It’s not like the J Pro.

I’m hitting 70c to 75c max. Planning to set shutdown temp at 82c instead of 85c. Managed to get 152th at 22 watts a th, fans at 90%, never over 72c. It’s a solid board.

Yeah but is it better than Braiins? Cost is about $60 more than a regular controller. If you make $5 a day, that’s just 10 cents saved daily. Takes ages to recoup that cost.

You gotta compare with 97.5% of the real hashrate shown in Braiins OS if you're looking at no dev fee. Don’t forget pool fees, which are zero in Braiins Pool.

I like the physical aspects of the controller. It’s snappy, better RAM and CPU than Bitmain’s. Software-wise, I’d stick with yours over this one.

What’s the best performance you’ve gotten on the S19XP? It’s rated at 141T with 3031W. How low were you able to go?

The epic board on my 134th models doesn’t boost efficiency, but it lowers fan speeds. If you want a quieter setup, it’s a decent choice.

Is it still viable to be a garage miner today? I always dreamed about mining but never took the plunge. Feels like it’s getting less profitable by the day.

You can still profit as a garage miner if you manage heat costs and power pricing. My power is 14 cents for 7 months, and I can use that heat.

Heating isn’t always needed. In Portugal, it’s just 2-3 months a year. Energy costs around 15 cents. Not ideal for ASIC mining.

Yeah, weather in Portugal is nice. But with 15 cents power, you need to find the right gear at a good price. S19XP or S21 might work but prices are steep.

Exactly, best time to buy is when BTC is low, prices drop. You might convince me to get into this later.

Anyone tried epic boards on S19K Pro’s? I’m getting 15 K Pro’s soon and looking into them for efficiency.

Running 15 machines at 15 cents each sounds risky. Epic boards are cool but may not help in your case.

I appreciate the feedback! Took a while to lock in an industrial rate. I’m mostly trying to undervolt and underclock for efficiency. It’s working well.
