Energy Generation Ideas: Real or Just Crazy?

The science behind this has been around for over 200 years. If generating cheap power was possible, someone would’ve done it by now. Building flywheels for just 1 megawatt would cost trillions. Better to invest in more hydroelectric dams or cheaper nuclear options.

Nothing is without impact... but yeah, 25% of Iceland’s power is geothermal.

This is one of the wildest ideas I’ve seen. At least give a normal gyroscope a shot like the Russians tried two decades ago, but they flopped. Tidal energy is way easier to use using the moon’s rotation. Building artificial estuaries is smarter than putting disks around the planet. Even with theoretical gains, energy loss in gears makes it a net negative. Probably made of some fantasy material anyway.

If you build that "disk", it’ll create huge forces with tiny movements. That’s not easy to work with; conventional engines run at high RPM for a reason. Who needs 1 rotation a day? Tidal energy is legit, it comes from Earth’s rotation, plus it’s got that little energy leak to the moon.
