Saw this interesting thing on Facebook about electric heaters that mine Bitcoin. Honestly, I know nothing about mining, but it seems wild. You can heat your space and earn a little cash. Apparently, it's 1300 watts and has 14 TH/S max hashing power. Looks nice too, not bulky at all!

Been around for a while, this concept isn't new. I’ve used Avalon miners for ages. Simply put, these heaters won’t make you money without noise issues. A7 and A8 series are quiet, but this heater? Good luck if you think it’s worth it.
I get what you're saying. I thought it was cool too but looking at the profit calculator? It's gonna take ages to get your investment back. Plus, it's a heater can't run it 24/7 like a regular miner. They’re asking too much for it.
Question for the group: Do electric heater companies disclose that they mine for rewards? Heard about this concept in old Princeton lectures. I’m curious shouldn’t customers be aware that their heater is sending data back? What if it gets hacked or something?
Yeah, I remember seeing these heaters back in 2017. $849 for 14 TH/S and 1300 watts? By now, that's not gonna cut it anymore. You can grab a regular heater for like $60, or grab some S9 miners for the price.
If you really want to avoid paying electric bills and make some cash, just get a better ASIC miner. These Antminers are just too loud for a home environment compared to the heater setup we’re discussing.
Electricity cost is key here. In my area, an S9 ASIC is only $100-150. Electricity is cheap too, at $0.025 per kWh. If you overclock it with liquid cooling, payback is quick. But a heater in summer? Nah, not comfy at all.
Right? On their calculator, it seems like hitting ROI takes forever. Plus you can’t keep it running all the time since it’s also a heater. Looked appealing but definitely not budget-friendly. Too high costs, too low earnings.
Anyone know if there’s a way to run these heaters without heating in summer? If you can’t, it’s gonna be hard to break even.

Mining means generating heat, so if you don’t want heat, you’ll have downtime. That's just part of it.
Your mention of mining just took me back. I tried mining back in 2017 using Nicehash with two GPUs. Made a decent profit, and it kept my room warm during winter.
Heat from a PC depends on the GPUs. Got two GTX 1060s? Not much heat. But two GTX 1080 Tis? You’ll definitely feel that warmth.
This space is for Bitcoin mining, not altcoin nonsense. Here, folks are using ASIC miners drawing over 1.25kW, some even more than 3kW. Noise issues aside, they're fantastic heaters.
Totally agree. My setup wasn’t enough for proper heating, but if you’re close to it, you felt the warmth. Antminers can really crank out heat alongside their mining power.
