Do solo miners actually earn Bitcoin for trying to validate a block, even if they don’t end up doing it?
Earnings from Solo Mining: Is It Worth It?

Nah, not at all. You don’t earn anything unless you actually find a block. Being a solo miner these days is pretty much like playing the lottery. If you have a few miners, you can give it a shot with one of them, but it could take ages. Sometimes, you might just find a block in a few days, but usually, it’s just a waiting game.
Is there a way to make it profitable if you're patient? Like, if you had 25 miners, should you pool them, create your own pool, or run them solo?

It all comes down to luck. Solo mining really feels like gambling to me. You can calculate your chances of finding a block by dividing your miner’s hashrate by the total network hashrate, which is huge right now.
True, but it also depends on your hardware and electricity costs. Joining a pool definitely gives you steadier returns. If you’re still set on solo mining, using a solo mining pool can be better for profit.

You gotta consider your expenses too. A solo miner can wait months for a valid block, and that’s an average estimation. If 6.25 BTC in a year covers your costs, it might be worth it to hang tight.

You can’t estimate anything without knowing your miner’s hashrate. Like, if you’ve got one S19j Pro, it could take 60 years to find a block! In the end, it’s all random luck, you might hit a block in 5 minutes or wait a century.
Thanks for the insight! Also curious about handling a million transactions.
From what I’ve seen, solo mining isn’t really profitable anymore unless you have top-tier hardware and electricity rates that boost your odds. So, pools are a safer bet.
Yeah, going solo with good ASICs and low power costs seems off. If you’ve got a 100 TH machine using 2.5 kW an hour, it’s still smart to mine in a pool. You’ll earn more consistently.
Exactly! You gotta manage your gear carefully if you try some solo mining.
For sure, it’s like gambling. But I think mining’s more than just cash for some folks. Once you start, it’s kinda addictive, doesn’t matter if it’s profitable or not. I mined ETH when it was POW, and even when I lost, I kept at it.

If you’re using your gear to heat your home, your mining could cost nothing. So, many miners don’t stress about earnings while solo mining.
Finding a block solo is like a miracle these days. Bitcoin supply is shrinking, so running multiple miners is key. Unless you have a powerful rig, solo mining might leave you in the dust.
Right? Betting on luck with solo mining is risky, but having a better hashrate definitely increases your chances. Solving a block on your own feels epic, but you’ve gotta be patient. Who knows when your luck will strike?

Exactly! For all miners, solo or pool, one ASIC solves the block. Solo miners enjoy the whole reward without sharing, but the odds are against them. Some people mine solo with a small part of their hashrate for fun like a lottery ticket.

Yeah, good point. A mix of both solo and pool mining might be the way to go.
