Does Mining with Solar Power Make Sense?

Just got a solar setup of 16.9kwp. Costs were covered by incentives. I sell electricity and earn around 1500 euros yearly plus those incentives. Thinking of using my solar more efficiently... I even got a 6kw hybrid inverter and 10kwh batteries. They're just sitting in my garage collecting dust.

Batteries aren't the way to go, man. Trust me on this.

Exactly! Not free electricity if you paid upfront, right? Let's be real, mining isn’t what it used to be.

Yeah, I feel you. It sounds like mining is a losing game now.

That’s true. You’re making money now, sure. But with new machines being added daily, good luck keeping those profits rolling in.

Yeah it’s probably better to just sell the electricity... way less hassle.

Solar setups can yield profits for years if set up right, especially with incentives. But yeah, maybe adding more panels to sell electricity could be the smarter move here.

Mining is unpredictable. It’s kinda like gambling, you know? Lucky coffee shop might go down just from road changes.

Your problem is the battery capacity. It won’t last long with an Antminer.

Exactly! Your batteries will drain fast... 10kwh runs out in no time under those conditions.

Sell electricity and buy Bitcoin, that’s the win-win advice here.

My experience was awful. I fried my batteries trying to mine. Now only small miners work for me, better to just sell power.

Yeah, those bigger ASICs are just too much for solar batteries.

Batteries are really just for backup... they can't handle constant heavy use without dying out too soon.

If you're mining for fun, stick to low-power setups. Anything else is just a waste.

Feels like this convo's straying a bit but it’s interesting.

You can definitely mine solo to help decentralize. Grab some low-power options to run on your setup.

Not sure solo mining makes sense with your setup. The odds are just not great.
