Built it myself and it’s super cheap. No need to drop hundreds on boards or chips. You can solder high-performance FPGAs at home in just a few minutes with a skillet. Got a xc6slx25 on there now to test things out, xc6slx150 is next.

Had a similar thought, but I was thinking of using LPCExpresso with LPC1769 for the Ethernet. 175MH/s with SLX25? Just need some holes for a heatsink.
If you can actually make these, I’m in! I’d buy five for $175. Is that legit?
How do these things even work? Do they connect to a monitor or something? I’m guessing they’re programmed for mining, but how do you keep track of everything?

$1/MH? Why not just make these ready to go and sell them? Seems like a no-brainer.
I wish I could build one, but my soldering skills are terrible. Maybe I can find someone to help.

That's pretty cool.
Is anyone actually reading what’s being said? The LX25 is just for testing a new layout. If it fails, at least it was cheaper than the LX150. Plus, that heatsink looks tiny, you need better airflow.

Show us a demo with the lx150. If it’s as good as you say, I’d buy some built units for around $225-250, depending on shipping.
Exactly what was said before, the slx25 was chosen in case things went wrong, only $40 lost. But it worked perfectly, so now on to the lx150 for better performance. I want to help people get affordable mining setups.

I’m not too thrilled about this. I live in Quebec where electricity is cheap. Affordable FPGAs might ruin that. But props for the DIY!
Here’s what you need for FGG484 BGA assembly: IR thermometer, electric skillet, flux syringe, soldering iron. It’s not too complicated.
Awesome job! Are you actually mining on the chip yet, or just testing the JTAG? Designing a solid power supply can be tricky.
Excited about all these new FPGA mining projects! Didn’t know you could use a skillet for reflow.

+1 on the demo video. Would love to see the lx25 mining solo to confirm it works. I’d chip in to help buy an lx150 for a demo.
It’ll take a couple more days before the 6s25 is mining. Just finalizing some RTL and software. Super pumped about the BGA assembly working!
Not sure yet, been cutting costs like crazy. Might take another week to validate everything before considering selling. No pre-orders for now, just stay tuned.
This isn’t for newbies. You gotta know your way around a soldering iron. Plus, building a decent PSU isn’t easy. Yeah, costs are low but expect to invest some time.
