Different wallet address from same seed

I think I’ve got a similar issue. I made a Unisat wallet on my phone and backed up my seed phrase and private keys. But when I tried to import that wallet on my computer using the Unisat extension, I got a different wallet. My funds are still on the phone though. I checked the seed phrases; they match, but the addresses are different.

Sounds like a classic case of differing derivation paths. Could be that the software is using a different one. Just to make sure, did you add any "passphrase" to your seed?

Yeah I’ve seen people complain about this before. Sometimes the mobile and extension wallets just don’t sync correctly. Make sure both are using the same derivation path. You might be on a taproot address on your phone while the PC is defaulting to native segwit.

Exactly what I was thinking. If both wallets aren’t using native segwit addresses, you’ll have issues. Are the addresses from both wallets starting with bc1? If not, that’s your problem.

From what you've shown, it seems your mobile wallet has taproot addresses (tb1p) and the desktop one has native segwit (tb1q). When restoring, you need to select the same wallet type to avoid ending up with a different one. Also, that "t" means you’re on testnet, right?

That’s a good catch! It’s normal to see different private keys because different address types generate different master private keys, even with the same seed.

Yeah, but that original thread you referenced was about encoding issues. Yours seems more like a path type issue, which means you just picked the wrong address type when setting it up.

You can change the address type easily in the settings. Just hit the settings icon, and there should be an option for address type selection in both mobile and extension versions.

I see that option! I’m using testnet to run my wallet, but since it’s not compatible with my phone, I need to import it to PC. It’s strange to have different addresses though, especially with different private keys. I thought I picked Taproot for both.

Go into the Unisat extension, hit the icon, and you can switch wallets from there. You should see options for changing the address types.

Oh wow it worked! I followed the steps and got it right. Had to ditch the wrong address, but it’s way easier than I thought it’d be. They should include that option during the registration on the platform. Anyway, everything’s back to normal. Thanks for helping me out!
