Saw some recent tokens like OFFICIAL TRUMP and MELANIA. Are there other cryptos directly tied to a famous (or not so famous) person? Is there a name for these kinds of coins?
Cryptos Linked to Famous Individuals

Oh for sure, lots of 'em. Most of the notable ones are from celebs in music. Even had a local singer pull a fast one on investors just like those American artists. Honestly not my jam, they all seem like pump and dumps to me.
Right? Picture a massive list of "personal cryptocurrencies" by different celebs. Think athletes (prices spiking pre-Olympics!), politicians (before elections!), and up-and-coming artists (right after they blow up!). Still searching for a solid term for this!
Many exist, but for me, Trump’s the odd one out. People buy TRUMP just 'cause he's the U.S. President. Once his term wraps, I bet that token tanks hard. No real reason to hold it.
Just to add some more names to the mix, consider these: Mike Tyson ($TYSON), Haliey Welch (HAWK), Kanye West/Ye (YZY), Akon (AKN). Lots more out there, it’s a never-ending list. But honestly, most of these celeb coins are complete junk.
Thanks for those names! Got some interesting figures for you. Like, Mike Tyson ($TYSON) peaked at $8.4K market cap and one Haliey Welch investor reported a whopping $500M market cap. Crazy!
Don’t forget Andew Tate ($DADDY), Ronaldinho ($STAR10), Caitlyn Jenner ($JENNER). They're popping up everywhere. Some big names even dropped their own memes. But let's be real, most of these are just trash.

$TRUMP peaked for like two days and then plummeted. Had an all-time high of $78, now it's down to like $2.89. Melania shot to $45 but is now at $0.106. They won't ever match those highs again.
Wasn’t WLFI supposed to hit $1? Pretty sure it never did, right? But speaking of Trump, guess what’s on his agenda? It’s like he’s forgetting about crypto after all those promises.
According to Coinmarketcap, WLFI’s max was $0.46 on Sep 1, 2025. Coingecko says it hit $0.331336 then too. Saw the price drop on Mexc right after launch. Good projects don’t see such crazy volatility.
Yeah, bad idea all around. Those coins from a single "visionary" dev tend to flop. All of them I know just vanished, leaving their coins worthless. The ETH journey is an exception, Vitalik’s not relying on his name alone anymore.
Newbies gotta be cautious with these celeb-linked coins. They often end up being shitcoins, with the devs cashing out while investors lose big. If a coin’s named after a celeb, that’s a red flag for sure.

Fascinating info! I think about investing in talented friends. If they had personal tokens, I could invest early on. Imagine paying for lunch with their token and then cashing out when they’re famous!
Cool idea but kinda oversimplified, don’t ya think? Reputation matters a lot. Without trust, coins die no matter how good they are. That’s been proven time and again. But, with Bitcoin, it’s about tech and security too.

If you’re a big name in the crypto space, creating a coin can be a goldmine. Fans will buy right into the hype. Just like $TRUMP and $MELANIA, it’s all about the buzz, not the actual value.
Yeah, Trump has these crypto variations for his whole family. Seems like a big cash grab, especially given his influence over some pretty serious geopolitical stuff.
Imagine Satoshi dropping a personal token. His rep is tied to his tech skills and marketing. Think about the price swings for $atoshi as he wasn’t even believed at first!
You’re spot on, the right term is celebrity tokens. They can be made without permission, and in 2016, brands didn’t even care. Today, they just buy rights for names.
How about calling them "rug pulls"? They’ll crash once the celebs fade away. With $TRUMP and $MELANIA, their value will drop when he’s done with his term. Real investments have to be based on actual use.
Not just limited to celebrity tokens. Anyone with followers can have a coin. It used to be common with early crypto pioneers. Maybe "Cult Tokens" is a better name?
