What was the Bitcoin mining difficulty when you first started? I got into it back in 2013 when it was around 15 million. Crazy times! Now we're looking at 24.2 trillion... Anyone still hitting blocks solo or is it all pool mining these days?
Comparison of Mining Difficulty: Then vs Now

Honestly, seems like it's all pool mining now, man.
Not exactly true! There are actually two guys who mined solo and hit blocks recently. Sure, it’s rare, but it’s all about luck, right? And remember, even in a huge pool, it’s just one miner who finds any block. Could be a lowly 2-3 THs or a beastly 110THs miner, still just one piece of hardware.
This isn't really the right place for that discussion. We should stick to Bitcoin mining with hardware here. Anyway, my first block paid out from Kano pool was on October 26, 2014. Difficulty back then was 35 billion and I was running 574 GHs. Found 10 blocks for the pool so far.
Man, it’s wild! Just think about it... a single S9 chip that hashes at 0.07 TH can hit a block worth a quarter million dollars! That's insane, right? Honestly, most miners use pools now. Even solo miners usually tap into a pool. There aren’t that many who run their own node.
Realistically, if you wanna mine solo and hit a block daily, you need about 2 EH. That’s like 20,000 S19s! At 8,500 a unit, we’re talking 170 million in gear and burning serious power too. Power cost? Around 67,200 a day. Makes it tough to profit unless you’re dropping serious cash.
Lol, I seriously hope no one is making plans based on solo mining income with less than that! I wouldn't risk it. A lot of us prefer avoiding the luck gamble with smaller pools. I only point a couple of S9s to Cksolo occasionally, and for fun I throw some THs at the solo pool, but everything else is on PPS+ pools.
