I'm totally new to this mining thing. Is it even possible to mine Bitcoin using a high-end laptop or PC? Anyone tried it? Is there any profit in it?

No way. If you’re serious about mining Bitcoin, you gotta get an ASIC. Laptops just won’t cut it with their tiny CPU hashrate. Check out Bitmain Antminers for starters.
Instead of waiting for replies, look at this thread here about laptop mining in 2024. Also, mining Bitcoin with a GPU is pretty much dead now. You're better off mining some altcoins, but that feels like playing the lottery.
Mining Bitcoin on a laptop is a bad move. Check out NiceHash or 2Miners if you want other options. Just be ready for your laptop to overheat.

Honestly, you need an SHA256 ASIC to mine BTC. You could try mining altcoins, but again, laptops overheat fast. Without cheap electricity or proper gear, you might wanna rethink this.
Even a high-end laptop isn’t worth it for mining. ROI? Forget it. You could end up melting parts inside. Seriously, get an ASIC unit if you’re thinking of Bitcoin mining.
If you’re looking to get Bitcoin, mining on a laptop is a bad idea no matter what. It’s super expensive, and you need a lot more than just a computer. Equipment, power, space... Plus, check if it's legal where you live.

You’ll ruin that laptop and won’t make any profit. Invest in actual mining hardware instead. I can point you to a good seller, if you're interested.
Definitely not. If you’re planning to mine with just a laptop or PC, don’t even bother. You'll just stress it out, and it can't run 24/7. Build a proper mining rig if you’re serious about it.
Starting with a high-end laptop is just gonna waste time and probably damage it due to heat issues. Research ASICs like Bitmain Antminers.

Should rename the topic to ‘Destroy your laptop mining bitcoins.’ Mining Bitcoin on a laptop is a super bad idea. You'll just learn a costly lesson.

You can mine other coins and trade them for Bitcoin later. Just remember to clean your laptop often and remove the battery for 24/7 mining.

Yeah, but big mining outfits are struggling with ROI too. They’re switching to HPC and AI training. It's about more than just electricity costs!
Mining on laptops isn’t practical they’re not built for it. ASICs are the only way for Bitcoin. Some altcoins might work with a desktop GPU.

Not a chance! You’ll just fry that laptop. Get specialized mining gear. If you have a laptop, maybe look for CPU mineable coins like XMR.

Wow, you just negated your own argument! Small miners don’t need fancy setups. You can scale easily and skip the overhead costs compared to big farms.

Common sense is that big operations do scale better. Small miners often get overpriced equipment and miss out on the good deals.

Nah, you’re actually talking to a real miner! Plenty of folks still mining with older setups and earning more than those big companies.
There are real-world situations where small mining with cheap or free power can work. My equipment runs efficiently for a good profit.
