Can a Small Miner Randomly Solve a Bitcoin Block?

Don’t just say join a pool. What if I'm mining solo with a small USB miner? Can it actually solve a Bitcoin block?

More fast nodes mean quicker block distribution. My pool sends blocks via tiny shares to all connected nodes, so speed matters.
