I've been hearing a lot about young folks wanting to create generational wealth. But is it actually in our hands? We can build up assets today, but what if our kids can't manage it? It’s all about teaching them how to keep it growing.

Honestly, I think generational wealth is almost a myth now. Just look at how few businesses actually make it to the next generation. Maybe like 1% of the 1% actually succeed. It's tough out there.

Fear plays a big role in this talk about wealth. Everybody wants their kids to have it easier. But does that mean giving them everything? Studies show that inherited wealth often shrinks over time. It’s like a rule that by the third generation, they’ve blown through it.
True, a lot of kids don’t realize the hard work their parents put in to build wealth. When they inherit, they often just sell everything off. Very few actually try to carry on the family legacy.
That reminds me of this story I read. A speaker pointed out how his grandfather had no car, then his dad had a basic car, and then he got a nicer one. But now his grandson drives worse than his dad. It’s all about that decline over generations.

When you talk about the ultra-rich, it’s different. They’ve got massive amounts of money that keep generating income. If managed right, they can hand it down without issues. But that’s only a tiny fraction of the population.
I think we’re wasting our time thinking about future generations. Wealth depends on who inherits it. All we can really do is teach our kids what we’ve learned. The future is uncertain, and money could lose value.
Investing in Bitcoin and Index Funds is the way to go for building wealth. Just stash away some cash for decades and you might end up with something substantial by retirement.
Interesting that Gates plans to leave just 1% of his wealth to his kids. He wants them to make their own way. Zuckerberg and others are also giving away most of their wealth. Doesn’t that make sense?
That’s a solid point. Generational wealth is tricky. Many kids squander what they inherit because they haven’t learned to manage it properly. It’s a waste if there’s no plan in place.
Most people from non-wealthy backgrounds don’t want their kids to struggle like they did. We need to ensure future generations appreciate what they inherit.

Agreed. It’s not just about the money. We have to raise our kids right. They need values and skills more than just cash. Otherwise, it’s pointless.
Exactly. Teaching them how to grow the wealth is key. What if we’re not around to guide them? If they just rely on the assets we leave, they might end up losing it all.
I want my kids to have a good life, but they need to learn to make their own way. What I leave them is secondary. If they don’t learn how to hustle, they’ll waste everything.
A good kid is a good kid; a bad one is a bad one. You can’t change their nature. Even with wealth, some will just blow it all.

This brings us back to your original point. Wealth can be mismanaged. Just because we invest wisely doesn’t guarantee they’ll handle it well.

Yeah, generational wealth needs to be paired with a good name and connections, not just money. That definitely helps.
honestly, we don’t know what will happen after we’re gone. Building wealth is fine, but enjoy it while you can. Not everyone is going to handle it the right way.
People get caught up in wanting to be rich without thinking about their kids. That saying ‘shirtsleeves to shirtsleeves in three generations’ says it all. Focus on what you can control now.
We should give our kids space to create their own wealth. Many successful folks didn’t rely on their parents’ money. They made their own names.
