Hey folks, Been diving into Bitcoin arbitrage for a few months and it’s been pretty good for me. For those who don’t know, it’s all about buying BTC on one exchange where it’s cheaper and then selling it on another where it’s pricier. I did this last year when MtGox and Bitstamp had some wild price differences, like 5-10%. The tricky part was moving BTC or fiat around.

Here’s my strategy: 1) Buy a big chunk, stash it in a paper wallet. 2) Grab smaller amounts for a hot wallet. 3) Spend a bit from that. 4) Refill the small stash. Rinse and repeat. Guaranteed profit, trust me.

Clever setup, but I wanna know what others think. With an average 2% spread, surely some of you are making cash off this. Am I the only one actually profiting from BTC arbitrage?

A lot of people tried it back when MtGox was crashing and prices were all over the place.

Bitcoin markets are super messy. Fees, withdrawal costs, slippage can eat away any profit from that 2% spread. MtGox was especially inefficient, hence the big spreads. If there’s profit to be made, trust me, people are doing it.

Quick question, are you based in the US? I’ve heard stories of accounts getting frozen due to high-volume transactions. Just something to keep in mind.

Seriously, there’s so much wrong in that post. I could spend hours responding but I’ll just say this: I’ve been at this for a while, even back when Bitinstant was around. It was profitable then and still is. I want to hear from others who actually have experience. Instead of dropping random economic theories, how about sharing real stories?

Well, all my buddies who tried this ended up losing everything. Either got rekt or had their funds stolen online. No joke. I’m curious how much you’re really making. Some people claim to be profiting but I suspect it’s not worth the risk. If you went from 10 BTC to 20 BTC, let’s hear about it. Takes guts!

Thanks for the heads up! I’m in Europe, and my transactions are pretty chill. Just enough to be more profitable than mining.

I can see your point. You might make a bit on each trade, but the risks are real. Plus, the time spent waiting for confirmations, man. I used to see a lot of this on reddit, and most thought it wasn’t worth it. If you’re making money, good for you, but I doubt many are doing it.

What’s wrong with my links? I’m just sharing my experience, and yes, I have affiliate links. They’re labeled, not hiding anything. I got some e-books and graphs too. Don’t click if you don’t want to. Better?

Totally agree with you. Arbitrage is risky, but honestly, everything in the BTC world is. Mining speculative coins, waiting for price hikes? A lot of people are stuck with coins they’ll never touch again. Investing in cloud hashing? Forget it. Look at all those who got burned with Butterfly labs. MtGox? Don’t even start.

So, you’re making like $3 here and $1.50 there after fees? For me, the hassle of coordinating all that for $3 just doesn’t seem worth it. Let’s say you’re flipping 10 times that amount… is $30 a day worth the stress? Day traders do it, but I can’t unless the profits are big.

Good for you if those numbers work for you. Personally, I won’t turn down $100 a day. Too bad I rarely see that since there are always gaps when I’m moving funds around.

Start with a certain BTC amount on a cheaper exchange, then grab LTC on a higher-rate exchange. When you spot a price gap, buy low and sell high to refresh your LTC at a better rate. You can even check the order book to minimize risk.

Let’s break down what I actually said: Compared to traditional markets, trading fees are higher, liquidity is lower, and it takes longer to withdraw fiat, which can cut into profits. There were times when BTC was priced 10% higher on some exchanges because people couldn’t get their funds out fast enough. Anyone who managed to pull out could’ve made a killing.

Appreciate the feedback. These are way more useful than previous comments. As for my links, some sites I’ve posted have been paying out for months without issues. But yeah, every Bitcoin-related service carries risks. People need to be aware of the potential pitfalls in arbitrage and other BTC services.

That 2% spread doesn’t cover withdrawal fees, so you better have enough on both exchanges for quick trades. Sometimes waiting to move funds around isn’t worth it if you miss bigger price swings. Moving cash from one exchange to another takes time.

Finally, this is the detailed answer I was looking for. Franky1, big thanks for the plan. I’ll try something like this but with a lower investment. Man, I miss the days of Bitinstant and MtGox.
