What’s the best way to track gaming stats for crypto projects? I’m particularly interested in average monthly users, revenue numbers, growth rates, and adoption speed. I used to check out Axie Infinity's stats back when it was dominating the scene, but now I need info on newer projects like TownStar and Illuvium.

Most of those stats are community-generated using APIs from the developers. For monthly users and similar metrics, that’s the norm. For specific coin metrics, sites like Coingecko or CoinMarketCap should have you covered. But yeah, if those projects are new, their coins might not even show up yet.

I’m on CoinGecko often, but I didn’t realize it had those specific stats. I’ve found more specialized sites for gaming stats, like DeFi Llama and Statista. Just kinda tough to know what’s relevant for crypto gaming. Speaking of which, I’m curious about Bloktopia. Where do I find the stats I need on CoinGecko?

I tried to dig into a few projects you mentioned but didn’t come across the stats you’re looking for. It really hinges on the devs being transparent about their data. If they don’t publish it, we’re just left guessing unless they decide to shout about it when things get hyped up.

Absolutely, it’s key to research these areas to see where the gaming industry stands. Reputation matters too. Some platforms might pay for reviews, while others have legitimate ratings, so you gotta weigh that when making decisions based on available data.

For categories like revenue, that info comes from the project itself. They need to release it first. For DApps, I suggest checking DappRadar. It can show you Unique Active Wallets (UAW), transaction counts, and more across different time frames.

Back when Axie Infinity was thriving, Illuvium was definitely on my radar as a top blockchain game. I feel like Illuvium could fix a lot of the issues blockchain gaming faces, like governance and tokenomics.

DappRadar is decent for gaming metrics but honestly, I think it lacks in real-time data accuracy. I prefer CryptoRank for that, it feels more reliable to me.

I’m kinda confused now. I’ve got a heavy investment in Illuvium, thinking it’s top-tier, but the volumes and transactions during this market seem almost flat. Can’t believe it’s ranked outside the top 1000 games while Axie Infinity is near the top 10. I usually rely on CoinGecko for research and now I see TownStar is outside the top 1000 too.

Can someone explain how Gods Unchained, which is outside the top 500 on CoinGecko, is pulling in so much volume? Meanwhile, Illuvium seems dead in the water transaction-wise. What gives?

I don’t see Coingecko as my go-to for checking a coin’s performance. For me, CoinMarketCap is way better for price updates and rankings. $GODS is 516th on CG but 462nd on CMC. It’s all about the platform’s data handling.

CoinGecko ranks based on market cap, not activity. So, focusing solely on activity can be misleading. Illuvium isn’t even out yet, so don’t hang your hat on activity as a reliable metric for rankings.

Aside from Coingecko and CoinMarketCap, I like using playtoearn.net. It has tons of info on different projects and stats, plus details on airdrops.

DappRadar might not provide the most accurate data, but it’s a useful tool for initial research. We definitely need to dig deeper ourselves, but DappRadar does offer a decent starting point.

Even without looking at revenue, DappRadar feels off. I checked stats for Dcity, one of Hive’s active games, and it’s not impressive at all.

Couldn’t see anything in that tiny image. Also, does anyone know how to correctly embed pictures in these posts? Tried using Imgur but the forum won’t accept those links. So annoying!

I put money into Gods Unchained on Immutable zkEVM L2. Here’s the deal their stats can’t be trusted since they’re often manipulated. Everything goes through private servers before it’s shown on their chain, leading to a lot of sketchy practices like wash trading and multi-accounting. You got these ‘whales’ and also ‘pet eaters’ farming value without really investing.
