just started running a node on a weak machine and my connection count is always low... like 1 to 3 max. on my stronger machine, it jumps to 10 in no time. why is that happening? do other nodes just ignore my weak setup?

no one can really see your machine specs. they only notice your IP and port. if your hardware is weak or has slow bandwidth, it’ll be hard to keep stable connections. check your bitcoin.conf file too, make sure you're not capping connections or anything. also, is port 8333 open?
what Bitcoin Client and version are you using? we need to know your setup in bitcoin.conf and any command line stuff you might’ve done. debug.log is key too. if you set up port forwarding right, you could get more than 10 connections. check out that guide on bitcoin.org.
no one's filtering you just for having a weaker machine. Core should establish around 10 outbound connections automatically. if you're stuck at 1-4, it's likely a network issue. run bitcoin-cli getnetworkinfo to see what’s happening. make sure your ISP isn't blocking you or using CGNAT.
