I’m just diving into this. Never happened to me, but what if power fails right after I hit SEND on Trezor or Electrum? Is there a chance the funds could get stuck or go to the wrong place? Like, totally stuck. I mean it’s not just me, anything could happen.

The signing happens first, then it broadcasts. If it’s an invalid transaction, nada happens after it’s broadcasted.

Wait, did you click SEND and confirm it on the Trezor device? Because the button names change between the two apps.

Yeah, ignoring all the interface stuff, basically two things can happen: (a) power out before it broadcasts or (b) after. If it’s (a), cool, coins stay put. If it’s (b), sent, and everything runs smooth.

If there’s a cutoff during transmission, the transactions won’t register. Packets need to be whole. If they’re incomplete, no movement on the blockchain. But that’s different than a bad transaction from a faulty setup.

One time I was doing a firmware update and bam, lost internet. But everything was fine when I got it back. Not the same, but if you lose power while sending, it shouldn’t mess things up. Just keep your laptop charged and use your phone for a backup

If your device has the internet and keys, it can sign and send a transaction. It's like they happen close enough in time. If the transaction was made before the power cut, when you’re back online, it should still work.

Man, thanks for all the replies. I hope I never face this. I’ve done all my bitcoin stuff on a laptop for years, just switched to a desktop without a battery. Picture this I click SEND on Trezor, everything’s good to go… then blackout.

Which device are you saying has the issue with power loss? Is it your PC or the Trezor? If it’s the computer, might be a driver issue. Check your Trezor drivers, reinstall maybe?

Get a UPS, seriously. It’s a big deal. You plug in the router, PC, everything into it. Saves you a lot of hassle.

So, it was the scenario I mentioned. It’s either sent or not sent no in-between limbo.

Just to clarify, you’re talking hypothetically about losing power while using a Trezor Model T. In that case, it probably won’t broadcast since it takes a bit of time to sign and transmit.

And if you’re using HD wallets, chill. No coins lost. They stay in your wallet or get sent, no grey area.

Totally worth it to get a UPS if you’re using desktops. I used to have a laptop with a removable battery that was super reliable. Now, built-in battery is the way to go.

Used to run a UPS years back. It’s a lifesaver! Backup my backups too but a random crash can still be a headache.

Transaction processing is pretty solid. No such thing as a fail from a power cut. Nodes either get your broadcast or they don’t. When you boot back up, your Electrum should show what happened.

The big worry with power cuts is during firmware updates; that could brick the device. Lost some equipment that way. But a transaction shouldn’t vanish unless it’s with exchanges like Binance.
