So VTB Bank, Russia's second biggest bank, is gonna let people trade crypto directly through their brokerage accounts. They already have some access to crypto derivatives, but full trading for Bitcoin and others is on the way once they get approval from regulators. Looks like we might see this roll out by 2026.

Not sure how this will work since I don’t live in Russia or bank with VTB. But it’s a mixed bag. Good news for crypto adoption but could be bad news if it’s not set up right. Merging banking and trading in one app could be risky for users.
Yeah, this is definitely gonna ruffle some feathers in the West. Remember the media frenzy when Hamas got donations in BTC? Bitcoin always gets labeled as a terrorist funding tool when stuff like that happens.

But isn't it like that in a lot of Asian banks already? You can trade stocks and forex all in one app. If people wanna gamble or trade, they’re gonna find a way regardless of the app setup.

Right, gambling is legal here and many apps have direct deposits to those sites. But I don’t see many banks allowing direct deposits to trading platforms yet, it's usually p2p trading. Maybe that will change.

The Russian government’s stance on crypto is confusing. If they open up trading through bank apps, it could lead to serious issues, like account freezes over minor allegations. Mixing banking and trading feels dangerous.

Just because it's done in Asia doesn’t mean it’s a good idea. The temptation is real. Seeing ads for gambling every time you open your bank app? That’s gonna be tough for a lot of people.
This is a huge step for VTB. I bet other banks will follow once regulations are clear. With VTB being a leading bank, I’m sure Russians are eager for this to happen.
Russia was totally against crypto before, so this shift is wild. What happened to their previous stance? Did they just give up? Let the West be mad; we shouldn’t stop innovating because they don’t like it.
Great point. This could make trading more accessible, but traders need to watch out for fees. Compare with other platforms so you’re not overpaying.
Yeah, I get what you’re saying. But honestly, I’m less worried about bank apps when kids are getting bombarded with gambling ads everywhere else online. It’s a messed up world out there.

Totally agree. The double standards are frustrating. They’ll blacklist whoever they want, but it’s always for their own interests. If Bitcoin could be more useful for them than their enemies, they’d totally embrace it.
