Just saw a news piece about Venezuela possibly holding a ton of Bitcoin. Like, 600,000 coins. Today, mainstream media is picking up on it too, pretty wild stuff.

Speculation city, fam. No real proof of that many Bitcoins existing. But it’s crazy how crypto’s become a geopolitical chess piece, right? Venezuela might be playing it to dodge sanctions.

So they’re going after Maduro or the whole country’s assets? If they have Bitcoin as national reserves, why touch it? They’ve got no proof the coins are drug money.

Not saying I'm Team USA here but it’s likely they won’t dump those confiscated coins. They’d probably stash it as a national reserve instead.

CNBC is usually solid but they’re quoting some sketchy sources here. An informant from the DEA claims to know where the Bitcoin is, but I’m skeptical as heck without on-chain evidence.
Fentanyl? Really? I thought that was mostly from the US or Asia. Who even links it to Venezuela? Sounds like more CIA nonsense to me. And 600k Bitcoins? I doubt it. So many questions.
It’s all guesswork until we know who’s got access to these supposed Bitcoins. Is it just Maduro or his crew? If the US tries to seize it, can they even force him?

I’m from Venezuela, and yeah, we know the government uses Bitcoin to dodge sanctions. They have secret mining setups taking advantage of cheap hydro power.
If they really do have a stash like that, Bitcoin’s price could skyrocket. But if they sell it, it’s a different story. The US could grab it if they think it's illegal.
Appreciate the insight, man. Good to have a local perspective. What do you think will happen with this Bitcoin stash? Will the US try to make Maduro talk?
Totally with you. Rumors are great, but let’s see some real numbers. If they indeed have 600k Bitcoins, that changes everything.

Still feels speculative at best. Even if Venezuela has that much, seizing it won’t be easy. They’re not going to let it fall into US hands easily.

If this is true, Venezuela could be one of the biggest Bitcoin holders. But if they take it, that’s a huge violation of international law, right?
Yeah, 600k is probably an exaggeration. But the 240 they claim isn’t likely all they have. They’ve been known to use crypto to get around the sanctions.
I just don’t buy it. 60 billion? Nah. Venezuela's not as rich as people think. Even Maduro can’t just magic up that amount.

The real issue is that those Bitcoins could be for personal gain, not the nation. US won’t care about it until they handle oil first.

Heard Trump might try to take them? That’s a slippery slope. Citizens should own that Bitcoin, not just have it seized on a whim.
This whole mess with Venezuela is complicated. Is it about morality or just grabbing resources? Seems like a bit of both when you think about it.

From what I see, people here aren’t fans of Maduro. There’s a lot of suffering caused by his regime. Some might see Trump as a savior.

There’s definitely evidence of money being funneled to buy Bitcoin with Venezuela’s oil profits. If true, that’s dodgy territory for Maduro.
