Looking for a lightweight wallet that won’t download the whole BTC blockchain. Blockstream Green seems cool, but I wanna connect it to my Regtest server. I run a class where we send around testnet BTC, but I keep running out due to fees. Generating my own Regtest BTC sounds perfect. Anyone got ideas on setting this up?

Have you thought about using your own signet network? Electrum's been supporting signet since 2021. You'd need to set up an Electrum server too, but it's doable. Or maybe just build a testnet network instead.
Honestly, I’d suggest skipping Regtest for now and going with testnet4. Testnet3 is on its way out and the fees are insane. Plus, Electrum supports testnet4, so you can avoid that full chain download.
If you’re offline for 20 minutes, you can generate coins locally with just a CPU. Set up a local network with all your nodes connected and mine as much as you want. Just keep in mind, those coins will disappear when you go live. But if you think of them as worthless, who cares?
Exactly, I can just give out a few coins for practice. Way more than enough for everyone to mess around with.
Been there, regtest is awesome. Just need a single node to set it up. An Electrum server on regtest could help too. Use a script to mine blocks every few seconds, and you're golden.
You can’t really stop coin exchanges on public networks, but creating your private network should work. Though, finding current guides is tricky. Could you share some wallets for Android/iOS that support regtest? Or will students have to bring their own laptops?
