Thinking about adding an S21 Pro to my setup at home but I'm kinda worried about the high electric bills in Ireland. Not sure if I’ll even break even. Should I just go for an S21e XP Hydro and host it instead?

We need your electric rate to give an accurate idea, but if we go with the average in Ireland, which is around €0.34, here’s what you’re looking at: 28.64 euros a day for running it and only about 13.58 euros in BTC earnings. So, that’s a loss of 15.06 euros daily. Plus, hosting is tricky and usually a scam.

Asicminervalue says you can expect about $14.18 a day from the S21 Pro, with electricity costs of $8.47. So, yeah, total profit would be around $5.71. But keep in mind, ASICs sell out way faster than GPUs, and used ones can be a risk.

That's misleading. You’ve gotta plug in the OP's electric rate to get the right numbers. The S21 Pro pulls 3500w, which is 28.56 euros a day to run, while it only makes 13.55 euros. That’s a massive loss.

I’m using the default settings from the site. The OP's electric bill isn’t mentioned anywhere, so it definitely changes things.

I get it, but I see so many newbies jumping in without realizing the power costs. I just didn’t want the OP to have unrealistic expectations. Even at the lowest rates in Ireland, it’s still a loss unless you have free power.

No worries, I didn’t take it personally. I started with GPU mining on a laptop years ago and it was fun learning. But yeah, no fixed rules for mining; it evolves all the time.

If the OP is going for home mining, maybe check out something like this Avalon Mini 3. It’s quiet, runs as a space heater, and uses way less power. 800 watts at high and 500 at low.

Or just grab a Russian noisebox and boost your hashrate by 10%. You’ll have a handy carry option too. Those things are gonna skyrocket in value.

Why are we acting like buying an ASIC is a must? It’s not. Bitcoin mining isn’t a sure thing, especially with high electric costs. Don’t fool yourself, OP.

Heads up, oneminers.com looks shady as hell. Same with minerboxes.com and their authorized sellers. Ireland has high electric rates too.

I still think if you really want to try mining, just buy an ASIC in Ireland. Do it for a month and see how it goes, then share your experience with others.

Honestly, Bitcoin mining has been iffy profit-wise unless you’ve got low upfront costs and renewable energy. I’m more into mining obscure altcoins for fun.

Dude, the Bitcoin network has doubled its hashrate in two years. Have you checked out what major mining companies are earning? If it was a bad investment, those charts wouldn’t be going up.

The S21 XP makes $13.50 and costs about $8.40 to run. So that’s like $5.10 profit after power. In a year, that’s 1800 bucks, but it costs 7k to buy. So, 4 years to break even.

Wait, you mean this one? That S21 model needs water cooling too, which is extra. But if you can get energy at 5 cents a kWh, it might be worth it.

That’s a different scenario though. We’re talking about someone with just one or two miners for fun, not major companies.

Buying a 5-7k ASIC that consumes over 5kWh is risky. You’ve got breakdowns, overheating issues, etc. Beginners should steer clear of that.

I meant the air-cooled version, not the liquid-cooled one. The air-cooled Antminer S21 XP is what I've got.

There are so many ASIC models out there, it’s confusing. I’m all for air cooling though, it’s reliable and easy to maintain after all these years.
