I made around 4k this year from trading on Gemini. Just wondering, do I need to report that? There are so many tiny transactions, it gets complicated. Anyone else in the same boat?

You can grab your trading history from Gemini pretty easily. Just check out their guide on how to view your full trading history. Might help you sort things out.

Honestly it depends on where you live and if you even have to report. Some places are more strict than others.

In the UK, for instance, there's a capital gains allowance of 12k. So if you're only at 4k, you're good to go without paying anything.

Even if the law doesn’t require it, not paying taxes can bite you later. You’ll get a bill and possibly a fine. If you've got a report from Gemini, take it to a tax consultant. They'll help you figure it out.

Wait a sec, to tax something, you need proof that it has value for buying stuff. What places in the UK even accept Bitcoin? That's why Satoshi made it decentralized, not for banks to control.

I think the government should be more transparent about taxes. Like saying "we charge $100 for every Bitcoin transaction". If they did that, maybe more people would report their income. It could show which countries are open to reforms and which ones will lose out.
