Spectre and Bitcoin Core RPC Issues

I've been trying to link Spectre with Bitcoin Core for hours now. My config has rpcpassword=b and rpcuser=a but Spectre keeps rejecting them. What’s going on? I'm really confused here. I feel like I'm missing something. Pretty sure the details match.

I reinstalled Bitcoin and used default paths, but kept the data folder on a different HDD. Now Spectre found it without issues. Honestly, if it’s rejecting your username/password, it might be because you didn’t use those default paths. Just install Bitcoin Core normally, then change the data folder to your external drive. That way, Spectre picks it up automatically without clogging your main drive.

Interesting... I tried to set up Bitcoin Core in a custom directory too and Spectre connected smoothly. Maybe there was something off with your previous setup? Like if the data directory wasn’t set correctly during the initial install? The reinstall might have messed with the GUI settings. Just a thought.

My issue was super weird. I had it installed on F://bitcoin with two bitcoin.conf files one in the install directory, the other in the data folder. I edited both of them while troubleshooting, but it was the one in the data folder that the GUI opened. Same user and password as in Spectre, but it wouldn't accept them. Spectre didn't auto-detect anything. I guess it’s impossible to pinpoint the exact issue since I had two config files.
