Should I buy this broken Antminer S17 Pro?

Thinking about making an offer on this Antminer S17 Pro since it's broken... anyone got thoughts on that?

I’d say it’s not worth it, man. Price is too high for a used one. You can grab a new one for about that price at Canaan. Like the A1246, which is way better.

True that! Plus, even if you fix it, those hashboards are a headache with those tiny heatsinks. They fall off easily, could lead to more issues down the line.

Why even consider Canaan? Their customer service is the worst and units break down way too fast. Had mine just sitting there for a year until I finally got it running, and then it died on me again. Seems pointless.

Forget it, keep your cash for something better or just buy some BTC instead. Who knows what else could be wrong with that miner.

Have you reached out to Canaan's rep? There’s one guy here who seems to respond. Might help diagnose your issue or something.

Those voltage rails are tricky. The docs say they draw a lot less power at 240V compared to 120V which can make it less safe. So yeah, better check that.

I can offer you my non-working S17 for $200 plus shipping, it’d total around 536 USD or so, but honestly, it's probably a lost cause. You could end up out of pocket.

Yeah, the integrated PSU is a big deal. It's regulating in a much better way than the old school models did.

Repairing it is 90% doable if you’re a pro with the right gear. For an average guy like me, nah, not a chance. It might run with fewer hashboards but it's still a power hog.

I’ve seen some of those refurbished S17s, but they're vanishing fast. If BTC skyrockets to like 100k, maybe it'd make sense to invest in an S17, but right now, working options are cheaper.
