US Bancorp is back in the game, relaunching its custody services for crypto aimed at big investors. This tells me that we're seeing a shift towards acceptance in the establishment. Companies will feel safer now to get into crypto, and that could speed up mass adoption.

Not sure why everyone's hyped about institutions jumping in. They’re in it for their own profits, not for the crypto community. Their moves only benefit their own portfolios, which doesn’t really change anything for those of us who are here for the tech.
Totally agree! Having a crypto-friendly president can help. Institutions that once shunned crypto are likely to re-engage. But let’s be real, they’re just looking to profit. It’s not like they suddenly care about the community.
It's a step forward for adoption, but custody services? Nah, not for me. I wouldn't trust a bank with my crypto. It might bring newbies in, which is great, but they need to learn that ‘not your keys, not your coins’ is how it goes.
I get it. The decentralized nature of Bitcoin means that everyone’s out for their own interests, but we can’t ignore how institutional portfolios can pump the market. More players can mean more volatility, for better or worse.
Honestly, a lot of these firms wanted in but were scared of regulations. They didn't want to deal with the mess that was the SEC under Gensler. Now that there’s a friendlier administration, they’re eager to cash in.
The first ETF application was ages ago, and it took forever for it to get approved. Grayscale’s lawsuit against the SEC opened doors, and now BlackRock is taking advantage. It’s been a long road, but we finally see some progress.

Couldn’t agree more! The regulatory landscape is getting clearer. Companies can’t ignore that trillion-dollar market anymore. Even Meta is dipping their toes back in with stablecoins, which is kind of wild.
Isn’t it funny how we complain about institutions but we’re all here for our own gains too? If Bitcoin didn’t promise big returns, would we even be sticking around? We’re all just looking out for ourselves.
Yeah, but the way I see it, this isn’t groundbreaking. The Bitcoin ETF is proof of that. Even if some folks don’t support ETFs, they’re here now. It’s good for exposure, though I wonder how it’ll affect Bitcoin’s price swings.

I’m with you, really hoping this leads to some solid results in adoption. Would hate to see these giants just hoarding Bitcoin without actually using it in any meaningful way.
US Bancorp’s backing could push others to explore Bitcoin’s advantages. If more people see the potential to profit, they may start getting involved. It’s only a matter of time before we see Bitcoin grow.
Gensler was never good for crypto. When he made banks hold capital for crypto assets, it pushed many away. So seeing banks come back is nice, but I worry about centralization. The crypto space is moving into traditional banking.
But bank custody isn’t really helping crypto’s usage, is it? They’re just going to buy Bitcoin and stash it away. It’s not like they’re revolutionizing how people interact with crypto.
Exactly! When companies buy Bitcoin just for investment, it doesn’t change the game. Real adaptation happens when crypto is integrated into services and payment systems.
True adoption means owning your keys. Just buying Bitcoin through a bank means you’re stuck in the same centralized systems. Where’s the freedom in that?
What’s real change, anyway? If institutions are jumping in just for profit, does it really benefit the community? If the next leader flips the script, what happens to all this support?

Can’t forget that previous administrations approved Bitcoin ETFs too. They’re not all anti-crypto. But let’s not sugarcoat it; Trump’s family is also looking to cash in. They’re creating coins for their gain.
Yeah, Trump’s family’s involvement is a bit sketchy. But hey, as long as they’re not rug pulling everyone, let them play. It's an open market. Everyone can contribute, right?
We should stick to Satoshi’s vision and focus on self-custody. Sure, banks see Bitcoin's value, but their services just let them control it. We need to promote self-custodial options.
