So buysolar and I are working on a solar array together. Just checked out his place today and snapped a few pics. Here’s some general info.

The setup's divided into two rows. The left side's using a low-cost mounting method, while the right has a corkscrew installation with rounded poles. The cement base method is pretty pricey. Check out these pics of us setting up the cheaper posts. I’m taking the photos while buysolar sets things using a level. We got this done in about 1-2 hours.

Anyone know the cost for a 2 kW system? Not really up to speed on solar stuff. I’ve got a tiny 45W solar setup from Harbor Freight.

Not my area of expertise, but it all hinges on local buyback rules. This array is tied to the grid. There’s a meter that tracks how much we produce. The power company actually pays for the excess power.

Wish I knew how to get a solar setup in Missouri. My electric bill is almost $500-600 monthly. Everything in my house runs on electricity, no gas.

Yeah, the mixed grid thing is cool if you get a good deal from the power company. This setup isn’t your average homeowner’s project. Buysolar has land to work with and managed to create a solid sell-back arrangement.

What's the initial cost for that whole setup?

Seriously, nice setup! I’m curious about how much it all costs too.

Here’s a handy calculator for estimating system output in kWh and costs. My 10.65 kW rooftop setup can generate around 18k to 19k kWh each year, which can power my miners for free. Installation eats up the budget, though.

This setup is beautiful! What’s the timeframe to pay off all the gear and start making profit? Good luck, looking forward to seeing you guys succeed!

Very cool! We should definitely take solar more seriously. It could be a solid investment for the government if they only realized.

The weather’s been helping us out. Just got some rain, so the ground’s softer, good for driving in posts. Buysolar thinks we can move all my miners to the array in about two weeks.

That’s a sweet setup! I can’t wait to get my own land and do something similar. How long till you break even or see some ROI?
