I had a frustrating time with PyWallet. Every time I tried to recover keys from a damaged wallet.dat, it just crashed. So I got one of my devs to jump in and fix it, and now we have a new fork with Python 3 support and improved recovery for messed up files.

Sounds cool! Did you document everything? I checked the README but didn't see a license mentioned. You should probably clarify that since it could cause issues later.

Yeah, I was unsure about the license too. Didn’t find anything solid, so just left it out for now. But I added a note about BTCRecover since that one seems useful. You should check it out.

Fair enough, but that could be a problem. The original PyWallet doesn’t really say much about licensing either. It’s unclear what we’re working with here.

I think Joric created the original PyWallet and Jackjack forked it. From what I saw, Joric's repo on Google is BSD licensed, so... maybe we should just go with that for now?

Honestly, I'm new to this open-source stuff. This is my first fork ever. Should I just assume it’s BSD and mark my fork accordingly? Man, I really hope I don’t mess this up.

I tried downloading the code, but a lot of links were broken. It’s weird because the pywallet.py files from Joric and yours look pretty different. Maybe just a coincidence?

Oh, and I added a feature to detect fake wallets with empty addresses that show a balance. Thought that could help users avoid scams!
