I think I messed up my S5. Tried updating the fan speed control through the standard upgrade screen, but now it’s stuck. The fans just blast at full speed and it won't boot anymore. Is there a way to access it through an SD card or something? Can't find any SD slot... am I missing something?

You have the version with the Beaglebone board, right? It should have an internal SD card slot. To fix it, you probably need to reimage the Beaglebone. You can download the required firmware from Bitmain's site, it's still available. Just grab the tools from there, unzip them, and use an SD card reader to flash the image onto your SD card. It should work.
