Is anyone here using CashApp for buying Bitcoin? How do they generate 1099-B forms? I read they issue these for anyone who "sells" coins, but I've seen info saying they give a form even if you only buy and transfer to another wallet. Pretty confusing honestly... Anyone know how it works?

I’ve heard that if you hold bitcoins on Cash App as of 12/31, you might get a 1099-B too, but their FAQ is kinda vague. If you sold through the app, you’ll definitely get one, that's for sure. Also, if all your buying and selling happens in Cash App and you never withdraw, the cost basis should be accurate based on FIFO... But keeping track of your own transactions is key for figuring out gains and losses.
How can they list the proceeds on a 1099 if you just move your coins? Seems like they wouldn't have enough data for that. Their support is pretty much non-existent, making me kinda regret using Cash App... At least they make getting Bitcoin easy and don’t charge huge fees. Coinbase is way clearer about their 1099-K, only sending it to users who hit specific thresholds.
