Just found out that the latest USB-C 2.1 can push 240W through one cable. That's enough to power something like a FutureBit Apollo, which uses a 200W supply. Crazy, right?

Totally agree. Imagine a stick miner using USB-C with 12A. The GekkoScience Compac F runs at 2A normally, but overclocked it needs 3A. Finding a suitable hub for it is tricky.

But here’s the downside... tons of bad USB-C cables out there. Just like we saw with those awful PCIe connectors that can fry miners. Not cool.

Plus, you have junky USB power bricks that promise a lot but deliver nothing. PCIe is solid and can handle 150W reliably. Why risk it with USB?

I get that, but whenever USB-C has come up, people mention it can’t do power and data at the same time. I haven’t checked your links, but if that’s still true, then it’s a no-go.

True, but USB4 hubs can handle data and supply 3A (15W) per device. It’s getting tough to find older USB hubs that support 3A. Designing new miners with USB-C makes sense now.

USB-C is definitely the future for small devices. But remember, USB has a master-slave setup, and that complicates things.

Yeah but USB4 does let you push 3A per port. The current best miners operate at 2A and 3A overclocked, so switching to USB-C for future gear seems logical.

Cool idea, but why complicate it? You’re tying a simple connector to a fancier system that might not be as efficient. I’m sticking to what works right now.
