Big news! EU wants crypto companies dealing with their citizens to report transactions to tax authorities. They aim for this to kick in by 2026. Apparently, they think they’re losing out on tax revenue since crypto is traded across borders.

Yeah but let’s be real. It’s just a proposal right now. A lot can change before it gets turned into actual law. Every member country is gonna tweak it, some will tighten the screws while others might relax things. It'll vary a lot.

Enforcing this is gonna be tough. The EU can only touch EU companies and residents. They can’t make firms outside the EU comply. It’s all about good faith, and companies can choose to ignore it if they want. Plus, it’s still not a law.

Totally agree! But maybe there’s a way to track cross-border stuff like the US does? Sure, it won’t cover everything but it could help some. But yeah, this might push people towards decentralized platforms instead.

Honestly, I’m not shocked. The EU wants to regulate everything, turning crypto into something like traditional banking. KYC everywhere. Look at Lagarde’s comments on CBDCs; it’s all about control. It’s like they want to strangle innovation.

I don’t think that’s right. You might hide crypto payments, but good luck hiding fiat conversions. Most merchants go through automated systems. They’re wasting money trying to enforce this when tracking profits is way simpler.

It’s all about the money, isn’t it? In my country, they tax everything, even e-cig liquids. It’s insane. But hey, at least crypto is legal here for trading, thanks to government approval.

True, but these rules will follow SEC standards. Big companies will comply, but smaller ones in Asia might just be shut out of EU and US markets. It’s gonna be a mess.
