The European Parliament just approved some new sanctions laws that cover crypto too. They’re trying to standardize how these rules are enforced across all member states, which is kind of a big deal.

Not really groundbreaking tho. It’s just clarifying that crypto assets can be seized if needed, which seems obvious anyway. Did it really need to be a law in the first place?

Two major things happening right now in the crypto scene. Huge companies are rolling out Bitcoin ETFs and hoarding BTC. Meanwhile, the government clamps down with new regulations that could really screw over everyday users.

Totally agree... this is shaping up to be regulatory capture. If ETFs dominate the market, it could make it super easy for governments to control crypto. They’ll basically let folks think they have options while crushing the freedom that crypto was built on.

Yeah, this EU ruling scares me. The language about financial services covering ‘crypto-assets and wallets’ means a lot of risk for traders and users. I’d bet if a wallet has less than $10k, it’s not worth chasing down unless it’s linked to something shady.

Looks like they’re coming after ‘unknown’ wallets that’s mostly all of them, right? By 2025, if you wanna do anything over 3k EUR, you’ve gotta use a KYC wallet. Sounds like they want to kill self-custody. Imagine buying a car with bitcoin and having to send it to a hosted wallet first.

Totally with you there! I'm really worried about the trend towards centralization. Most people prefer the ‘easy’ route and will flock to ETFs, which makes it so much easier for governments to keep tabs on things.

It’s likely more uniform laws are coming for crypto across the EU, similar to existing money handling laws. But let’s face it, politicians don’t have our best interests at heart. Crypto’s entering the mainstream big bucks and all that could change things for regular users.

These laws are gonna split the crypto world right down the middle. One side will have legitimate, trackable crypto, and the other will be a shadow market constantly dodging authorities. It’s gonna be a wild ride.
