So here’s the thing. Why do miners jack up the fees on transactions? It seems unfair that both small and big transactions are hit with the same charges. A lot of people can’t even cash out their coins to make ends meet. Can't we have a tiered fee system based on transaction size?

LOL, good luck with that in a free market.

Is it even feasible? I mean miners are all about profit, right? They won't just throw away a chance to earn. I guess all this fee madness is just a phase until the hype dies down. Fees are already starting to dip.

It’s not the miners raising fees, it’s the users driving them up by offering higher fees for faster confirmations.
Once upon a time, there were rules for free transactions. Weird to think about now. But yeah, mining is a business. If a miner can grab a big chunk of fees from a block, why would they take a smaller cut? They’ve got expenses to cover after all.
Miners don’t actually control the fees. It's really the users who decide how much they’re willing to pay. Right now, since the Bitcoin network is busy, folks are forced to pay high fees.
Exactly, it's all about network traffic. When things are congested, fees spike. I get wanting to categorize fees, but honestly miners will always chase the big payouts.
Looks like miners had a nice run lately but fees are dropping again. Just checked the last few blocks and they’re looking better.
Glad to hear it! Maybe that means the BRC-20 nonsense is slowing down. Must be nice for miners to see their earnings almost double.
Yeah, but extra fees hit the network hard. They kept pushing to drive BTC below 25k but failed. HODLers held strong.
Miners just take what they get. They aren’t the ones setting the fees. I sent a transaction yesterday for $25 and today it’s $15. Should keep going down soon.

Wait, don’t use Bitcoin like it’s just a ‘money’ system? What if someone needs to make an urgent payment but can’t because of fees? That undermines the whole idea of Bitcoin as money.
Surprised we haven’t heard from the Bitcoin Cash crowd claiming they have the answer. Maybe we do need to talk scaling again. LN isn’t cutting it right now.

If exchanges allowed LN for deposits, it might help. Most people rely on centralized services anyway. I pay for stuff monthly in BTC and they don’t use LN.
There are lists of LN services, but like you said, most folks just stick to the classic on-chain method.
Yeah, CEXs are still the go-to for most. If they start supporting LN more, we might see a shift. But miners probably won’t want that because it cuts into their fees.
But isn’t it kind of unfair to punish big transactions? Everyone should get a fair shake, right? I used to stress about confirmations but they’ll eventually go through.
LOL, not sure if big-block advocates even exist anymore. What’s the real-world use for Bitcoin Cash these days?
Transactions can get lost if they’re set too low. With all the Ordinals traffic, low fees just won’t get you confirmed.

honestly, miners are just trying to earn from transactions. It’s all about that fee. We can’t do much except pay up if we want our coins to move.
